You know how when you leave strawberries or raspberries in the fridge too long, and they're still fine to eat, but nobody really wants to eat them because they're kinda mushy? Not moldy ones or anything, just the ones that the humans don't want to eat anymore. Are those still ok for chickens?

I give my chickens "10 weeks and older" any fruit or veggie that is past prime, but not moldy. No green potatoes or avocado skins or pits.
Around here it's usually apples cut in half and whole grapes.
I used to cut grapes in half, but after witnessing small toads being swallowed whole "twice" by my Golden Comets, I no longer cut up berries or grapes for the adults.

I have blackberry bushes on my property that my chickens will eat when free ranging, if I don't notice them first. GC

Ok! I was planning on freezing some berries for them during the hot summer, and am glad that the slightly gone by berries are ok for them as well.

Choke on a strawberry or raspberry?! Either they rip pieces off with their beaks, or they swallow it whole, but mine have always managed to eat things without choking.

I've seen birds choke when they get too greedy, and there are some pretty small strawberries sometimes
