Slim in the waterer

Nope I use it anyways when I have it available but I haven’t bought some for a few months.

RIGHT! I use plastic so I wasn't thinking in terms of metal.

ACV...which is actually Active Cider Vinegar,
(which has an active SCOBY),
is purported to be miraculously beneficial for all breathing things.
Not so, and can be detrimental to chickens.
Just clean your waterer regularly and keep it out of the sun.

Algae will not hurt the chickens. Slimy stuff won't hurt them either.
I just rinse out bowls once a week that begin to get too green.
