Slipped tendon in chick? - Please Help!

I guess in reality what would be it’s quality of like if the leg is either got a twisted bone or joint issue or something. I’ve heard of prosthetic legs for birds before but I’m guessing that’s really pricey.

Her bum is a bit dirty at the moment. But after feeling that leg it doesn’t seem to have much flexibility.

You will need to ask your vet. I know that some are quite reasonable, some are very expensive, it varies a lot vet to vet and area to area. I know where I am differences in some treatments can be 100's of dollars different between vets.

It depends on how much time and energy you can devote to it, but with a little planning and accommodation, it might be able to get on just fine.

I have a chicken whose leg looks similarly. She's 9 months old now and doing well. She gets around by hopping on her one good leg and the hock joint in the deformed leg. I have her in a low to the ground coop with everything within her reach. She shares it with one other chicken and two Call ducks. She even recently started laying eggs.

The biggest issues I have is keeping the nails on the affected foot trimmed. She was having problems with getting a bumblefoot type infection in her hock joint, but I am now able to prevent that by wrapping her joint with vet wrap.

I don't think anyone would fault you if you decided to put it down if you feel that will be what's best for the chick.

Here's Twiggy. I included pics that show just how deformed her leg is.

Hello. A friend of mine incubated some eggs for me n this only chick has a slipped tendon I believe today is Saturday n it hatched on Tuesday. I think it had this since day 2. Is there anyway to still help the little thing?
