Slipped Tendon (perosis) in Ducks

@pozees2, have you seen this thread?
Have now, thank you, I guess I have just remained blissfully unaware because I have only had chickens and one turkey hen I gave to someone when she was about 4 months old, luckily she never developed this, I would have felt awful! Are most starter/grower diets not specifically formulated for waterfowl/turkeys/pheasants, too low in niacin for those species?

Thanks for the info. Our duck Jumper (named as such because before his lameness he loved to jump and run around) has a slipped tendon. I wish I had known this 4 weeks ago but as ducklings grow so fast the local vet (not too many duck specialists around her) doesn't think it's fixable. Still, if anyone knows of a duck surgeon who may be able to do this let me know. But perhaps sadly his best fate may be to got to duck heaven--not an easy decision. It's so sad this had happened to him. Here is a video of him right before the problem happened.

Just a short update. After much prayer (I know, so silly to pray over a duck, right?) I think that Jumper still has a joyful life so we will keep him. So I'm going to be looking to buy a duck coop (is there such a thing?)

Will he have company in his duck coop? They don’t do well on their own, they are flock creatures.
Yes! His 3 sisters will be with him. Here they are! We have them all in a temporary home (modified crate) now but am hoping to get them a nicer coop but it's really hard to get a duck coop/house. All the coops are for chickens with the nesting boxes and the roosting poles.
