This lil guy hatched a couple days ago with the issue. I want to assume tendon issue, but I’ve never dealt with this before.

Can’t stretch the leg out fully and the hock is swollen.

Hi!

We just had one like this, without the swollen hock.

I'd get some B-Complex, either adult pills you'll cut and give less than 1/4 of one, or liquid fruit flavored drops like we got, then it's 1/4 of the eyedropper.

First, we did the usual Vet Wrap bindings for a couple of days. That's where you use about 1/2" wide strip of Vet Wrap, wrap around one leg, then the other, trying to maintain the distance between the legs that they should be, straight down from their body. You can use a bandaid cut in half the long way too.

That didn't fix anything as both legs still shot out to the sides and it was doing the splits. This was well beyond splayed legs, so probably a dislocation. We then tried keeping it in a small cup for a day, but that was rough, trying to keep it in there.

Eventually, we found a wider rubber band and put that on as a leg binding, but giving more space between the legs than is usual. We left it on for two days and when we took it off, the chick was very improved, but still would swing a leg out. So we put the rubber band back on, less space between the legs this time, and left it on for five days straight. We took it off and the chick could finally walk almost normally. We've left it off now for a few days, and it seems to be okay, just going to have a bit of a strange walk. It was this or cull it, and she was too cute to cull.

We gave it the B-Complex once a day, every day during this whole time. She gets around the same as the rest, just a little bull-legged. We might try the rubber band bindings again but just seeing if now that her legs don't jut out anymore, if she'd just learn to walk more normally herself.

The chick cannot put the leg down to begin with, as in it won’t stretch out. It keeps it up and hops around. How far it stretches in the images is as far out as it will go, so not entirely certain how I can wrap the legs without completely crippling it or preventing it from stretching either leg out rather than just the one. I’ve tried gently stretching the leg and it’s very fixed in that position, and any further hurts the chick.

Will try the B-complex though and see if it helps any!

The other leg is fine, just flopped to the side more since it was on its back. 😅
