This is only my second time attempted to incubate. The first round was a total loss after just a few days due to a humidity issue.

So round 2. This is day 8. All the eggs from my flock of various ages hens. Incubator is a YuXi brand, 16 egg. Temperature is maintaining 100.5-101. humidity roughly 40-45%; I'm in humid Tennessee so no water has been needed but I do monitor closely and vent if starts to push upper 40s.

I just did the first candling and I'm just confused. I saw a lot of blobs that slosh around so I got disheartened, but then I saw movement.

Is this sloshing ok, or is this a bad sign?

Contents should ooze around, flow like honey or glue, if the contents are watery and slosh that isn’t a good sign, especially if half is very dark and solid and the other is a clearish red. If you can see the embryo itself moving then it is likely alive, if you are unsure continue to monitor and recheck. It looks like your embryo is moving assuming the incubator isn’t vibrating or something causing the contents to flutter, good luck!
