I'm a newbie and need some help. Noticed yesterday afternoon that one of my 9 week old ameraucanas was occasionally giving a head shake and panting. Her beard was wet too. No other birds seem affected.
They eat crumble and are on green pasture, rotated 2x per week.
I think it's a slow crop. I massaged her a bit before bed and then noticed it was not completely empty this morning (but better).
I isolated her with just water. I can massage again but what else should I do?
No evidence of any illness or worms. Her poop is normal. I want to get to the cause. Ideas?

Do you provide grit for your chicks?

I'd re-check first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink to see if it's empty.
If not, then give her 1/2 tsp coconut oil twice a day. Massage the crop. Do provide her with food and water.

What's her poop like? Photos of her and the poop would be good.

I do provide grit but I tend to scatter it. I put a bowl out yesterday thinking it might help. They seemed to like it.
She perked up in the late afternoon. I put her back with her friends for the evening and this morning she seemed fine. Thanks for replying.
