Hi everyone! I finally let my bantam cochin sit on eggs. She has been broody several times, but never had fertile eggs.

She has been sitting for approximately a week. This morning I took her off of her nest to put her out to eat, drink, and stretch her legs, and her crop had food in it!! She pooped (ew), and drank, and ate a little. She scratched around for a few, and went back to her nest. I let her out again in the afternoon and she drank and drank, but she did not eat, and she pooped again, normal broody poop. This evening she drank and drank and went back to her nest. I am worried. Any thoughts???

I Am not saying I am an expert, But I bring my food and water to my broody hen let her do her business when she chooses. I get so Proud of her I bring her treats .. I do not disturb her though she has opportunity to leave I leave her be with lots of food and water near by.. I noticed she did make a mess near by but she also hated a nice bunch of babies. It was rare but occasionally I did see her get up and go out and stretch and roll a second then she was back to business. But I left her alone : )

Thanks for the advice, but her crop has had food in it all day since yesterday and I am concerned she has something wrong with her. I was wondering if being broody was making this worse?
