I have 4 chicks, 2 2 weeks olds, a 1 weeks old and a 4 day old. All the chicks except the 4 day old are voracious eaters, they eat and eat and eat, dig as they eat, fight over the same hole in the feeder (even though there are 8) The young one, keeps to herself or when she is at the feeder pecks at it, she may take a few bites but doesn't ever seem very hungry. She will eat though, just not constantly. The others will all be eating and she will be staring into space. She doesn't seem sick, she will run around with the others, just doesn't have much of an appetite. She is quite a bit smaller then the week old as well. Are some chicks just slow eaters? I thought when they were young that is all they wanted to do. Other then that she seems healthy. Am I worrying too much?

Well, you are very observant, and I guess my advice would be to not worry, but at the same time, keep an eye on her. If she's a bit younger than the rest, that could explain why she's a bit slower than the others, but I'm not sure. I would watch her, make sure she is drinking, eating and not being bullied away from the food.

Hope things will be OK for her/or him.

The little one's appetite will increase substantially in the next day or two. Remember it has also been feeding off of the yolk that it absorbed right before hatching. It will be OK, just a little more time.

She is better then she was yesterday. She is a black star sex link, so at least I know she is a she.
