Slow maturing Buff Orphington

Is it normal for a buff to mature this slowly? She’s 27-28 weeks and barely even has a comb yet. Her face JUST started getting slightly red. My other breeds are the same age, 3 have been laying for a while and one (Easter egger) is holding out but she LOOKS a lot more mature in the face and comb.

Yes this is perfectly normal - but I would start to expect some eggs soon.

I have an Easter egger pullet that is 32 weeks old and her face isn’t very red at all, while the other pullets have large, red combs and are laying. Each bird matures at different rates.

Orpingtons are some of the slowest maturing breeds out there. It's worth it because they're gorgeous though

I had no idea! But good to know now she’s on track with the breed.

My Easter egger has been tricking me daily for 2 weeks. Matured face, randomly goes into the coop during the morning…but nothing yet.

My eight Orpingtons are around the same age as yours, they do not lay, and look around the same. Small combs, pale faces. Only one out of all eight has a red face and large comb.
