Slowing down growth?

Quote:
We opened the pen every morning and fed the chickens outside it. We did not use the feeder but rather fed them by dumping a couple of juice pitchers of feed out on the ground about 8 or ten feet from the pen several times a day. At night they got no food. Between that and foraging they finished, at 10 weeks, at 6-8 pounds. We'll be taking the same approach next year, maybe even getting lazier by getting a broody hen to take care of them when they're younger.

I have three that are a whole lot older than 12 weeks. I have been feeding them laying mash for a while now. I feed them just like I would the layers. They are doing great .
