I wasn't sure where to post this but here goes....

Is it safe to use slug bait in the garden? If the slugs ingest intended bait and the chickens eat the slugs???

If bait is not good what does everyone do about slugs in the garden?

The only reason the slug bait isn't so good is that the silly chickens like to eat it up before it can save my primroses. I use Sluggo ("safe around pets and wildlife"), and I have learned to put the slug bait out in the late evenings, after the voracious hens are already roosting and locked up. The bait has never done them a bit of harm.

That is true. My worry is that my gluttonous chickens would go for beer, too! I can just imagine getting a call from the police about my drunk hens carrying on in a neighbour's yard.

LMAO,,, maybe its good for rheumatism,,,
Beer is what we used, never did I see a chicken in it, doesn't mean they wont try it. But then I dpnt let the girls into the veggie garden,,,

In the past I've made slug traps with big yogurt containers. Cut slug doors under the top rim, add beer in the bottom, replace lid and bury in garden so slug doors are just above dirt level. The lid should keep the chickens out, no?

Although... a rowdy chicken frat party at the neighbor's would be funny.....
