Slushie and Chubby are gone. gone forever

Hey ladybug - didn't you say that there were boys messing with your duck pen at one point? You said that you were going to put locks on the pen because these boys were bad and could be a threat to your babies? Is there any chance that you haven't locked up your pen and these boys have been messing with your ducks?

we hadn't gotten a lock on it yet. they had taken the latch and everything, so we were in the process of rebuilding it. i don't think they shot slushie while she was in the house, she was probably in the pond and they decided to try their luck. i'm so upset. i just keep seeing that image when i looked in the house and slushie was there, just covered in blood, and then when i walked out later and i just saw feathers. i wish this hadn't happened. i loved them both so much.

i think the weasel killed slushie because she finally went broody. she was protecting her eggs, and he attacked her for it. he killed her for it. i had been praying she would go broody, but now i wish she hadn't.

That is good news about your eggs due.

So sorry to hear about Chubby. I lock my ducks in a pet carrier at night. They are released first thing in the morning. I've had things try to dig them out - with no success, but they're bigger than my trap as they can take the bait without having the trap go off.

It is good that you have babies of theirs, won't be the same, but will be good.

i miss them so much. i hope their babies turn out to be just like them. they had wonderful personalities and were just beautiful. i miss them. i'll miss them forever.
