has anyone gotten a single combed slw from mpc before? I have a roo that was bred to a glw hen and the chick is single combed so will be getting culled i have a feeling their slw are not pure they are mixed im not happy

Hate to say it, but if your order from ANY hatchery you may get a single comb Wyandotte. Rose combed birds will occasionally throw single combed offspring.The genetic code for combs is two 'r's and two 'p's. Rose combs can be RRpp or Rrpp. The latter will result in a few single combed chicks when bred to another Rrpp bird. They look identical to the naked eye.
Like eggsighted said, it's widely noted that RRpp birds have poor fertility. The occasional straight comb doesn't mean the bird is not pure.
