Hi, I am reading a bunch of threads on raccoons and different predators getting the flock. I recently was struck pretty hard by a fox or foxes. I am pretty confident on my raccoon and opossum catching skills, however not so much on my fox catching skills. Does anyone have some successful ideas of catching/killing fox. I have tried live traps and foot traps but the fox out smart those. I may have to resort to staking out with a rifle in hand if I don't get any better ideas!

Disclaimer: If you think fox are pretty and innocent animals, please don't post on this thread because they are in fact the devil.

I love all animals until they try to eat mine. That’s a tough one. Foxes are pretty slick. My friends having the same problem

A rabbet in distress call, a dying puppy cry, or a call meant to mimic some other unfortunate animal will have foxes happelly coming in from all around. However once you let one fox get away alive, then you can scratch that fox's name off of your to kill list. one of those cute little furry jumpy around things that operate by radio and that is supposed to mimic an animal struggling to escape is a nice confidence builder and it will also keep those sharp eyes from looking to hard at your hiding place.

Not to mention that it can provide days and days of fun for you and your dog or dogs.

As one who has spent a night sleeping in the chicken coop so I could get in a good shot, and countless hours in a ghilley suit in the hay field watching the beasts tracking patterns, the best bet is learn it route and set up a snare, once snared, 9 cent solution.

They are usually too smart for cages and traps unless they are ridiculously scent free and hidden beyond belief.

Your right, live traps don't ever seem to work for the FOX! Raccoons and opossums no problem, but that dern'd ole fox... he's too smart for a live trap! But this that has helped us at nighttime for us is red lights that look like eyes. You can try www.nightguard.com or just use the on/off solar power property lights that you pop in the ground. Spray the clear light area black except for two round dots (we used stickers) peel them off after the black spray paint has dried and color in the clear dots with a red sharpie marker and ...viola! Sounds dumb, works great!
