If they are hurting your birds, I would take the shot wherever I could get it then track them down and finish the job behind the ear straight in the skull. dang dogs!!

Oh... as for the OP... Trap 'em. No one is going to get you for poaching wild dogs. You can even take them to the animal shelter. They'll probably end up killing them anyway. Either that or get a bigger gun.

At 1500 yards I can make a chest shot 8 of 10 tens.

If I spent over $15,000 on a gun and optics, I'd expect 10 out of 10 at that range.

If it will shoot "quarter sized groups" at 500 yds, it should be still be well under a 3" group at 1500 yds.

A "chest shot" on most standard targets is 12 X 18.

You never said what scope you use, since "BORS" isn't a scope, it's just a rangefinder/ballistics computer attached to a scope.

Sounds like a fun toy, but not much of a stray dog set up

i say shoot it wherever and finish the job if it falls. if it lives then it wont be back.

head shot will work aim at ear or eye or less boney spot

I have tried to answer all the e-mails about this weapon and how I come to have it. Because of the volume. I will state here that I have a federal license to own and test new products for arms companies and different organizations. I do not use these weapons on anything other than targets.
What I try to do here is have everyone use an over powered weapon to insure a clean kill. If you shoot a predator with a 22 cal, it may die later after many hours of pain. You shoot that same predator with a 30/30 or larger, it is dead. Lets try to keep focused more on chickens than the weapon we try to protect them with.
