Small coop finished - Studio 54 (pic heavy)

I started to warn you when you started this thread.........and now that I see the first signs of the disease that I believe is second only to chicken math, the dreaded COOP CHANGE Disease, I will warn you.  I don't thing there IS such a thing as "Coop Finished".  Always seems to be some kinda tinkering or modifications you can think of to do.

LOL Maybe better to say "Phase One Coop Build Complete".  Phase 2 begins in 2 Days.  Hehehehe

Indeed. Coop modification or new "chicken tool" has occurred almost daily for the last 2 weeks ; )

The big brown one flew up to my DW's shoulder last evening and the 4 others roosted on the door jam... sooo Studio 54 run 2.0, new roost in run 3 ft high... think it should be higher for 2-5 week olds? lower?

Got me thinking for sure... a "full sized" one (trapezoid shape, think that is a trapezoid. It's been awhile since Jr high geometry ; ) wouldn't slip over and then in tuck in behind the removable 8" plywood fence that is used to keep the deep litter in. It would have to fit it directly in the door jam. I could make the frame out if 1"x3" and it would seat in there pretty nicely. The crux would be figuring out how to attach it so it would be easily removable, but not impede closing of the door when it wasn't in place... a couple of eye/hook latch thingys? velcro??

I have two doors for my bantam coop, a summer door and a winter door...I just switch them out seasonally by unscrewing the hinges. Adds a lot more ventilation over my area's HOT summers.

This is awesome. Your run is definitely giving me ideas. The idea of making the measurements of the run to go with the width/height of the materials at hand so less cutting. Brilliant! Thank you for posting over in my run questions area. How'd you do your door?

It is a guillotine style so I can open/close it from outside the run (turning out to be super handy). It isn't a novel or fancy idea, but quite functional. I went out and snapped a few pics. I didn't "rip" any boards...i just used 1x1s , 1x2 and a 1/2" plywood door...remember, I hate cuts ; )
