Well after realizing that a box 2'x2'x2' really wasn't a "Happy home" for our bird I decided to build a new coop which should give her a safe place to sleep at night.

The front of the coop with the door closed/locked.

The front with the door open. I figured that since the only time she would need to use the ramp would be when the door was open so I combined the front door and ramp into one item.

The back has a hardware cloth "window" to allow for better ventilation in the Houston summers but...

... I added the option for a sliding panel to allow us to cover the window in the winter or when the weather is really bad.

And of course a place to perch inside.

The only things left to do are to take it out and attach it to the existing run and to add the 4'x 3' sloped roof.

Hopefully she'll like this one.

That is one good looking coop! Having the front door fold down into a ramp was a great idea.

Nice!! You're a good chicky-dad! Ond thing though, she'd probably like some kind of 'cleats' down that ramp so she can get up and down it easier. I'll look for a picture of how it should be... some kind of little strips of wood so she doesn't slide down it. Sliding down something like that injurs their dignity. Very nice though!

She might like to a friend-or two--or three

, now that she has a large home!! Chickens are flock animals and they need company.... Your coop is adorable..

"She"? As in one single, lone chicken? She needs some friends to live with her in that lovely coop! Great job!
