Hi y'all,
This is my first time raising meaties, and so I only have three. They are 8 weeks old, but they seem so small! Can anyone post pictures and list weights of their 8 week olds? I'm very inexperienced.

Thank you!!

first guess... you didn't feed them right..

2nd guess, they're not cx

I am positive they are Cornish X.
And sorry, by small I don't mean puny. They are plump and stocky. They just don't look as big as the pictures of others I've seen here.

then take pictures...

they are chickens, remember...

what do yours weigh?

Some of the birds, that you are seeing pictures on here, are obviously older than most are allowed to grow. Some are in breeding experiements, some aren't. Some people just prefer to make small sized turkeys from theirs.

I will take pictures tomorrow, cause it's dark.

Thanks for your advice

Could be that there just isn't enough competition, sometimes they won't gain weight like larger flocks will, because they compete with others for food.. I just had mine processed last week at 8wks 1 day and they averaged 4.5-5lbs dressed.. Just give them a little more time to put on the pounds.

Mine are 5 weeks this Thursday. They weighed 3.5 - 4.5 lbs on this past Sunday.

How much does yours weigh at 8 weeks old?

Darin

At 8wks ours usually dress out at around 5-5.5lbs. though some are bigger and some smaller than that.

Try looking at the website for Welp and Meyer - both hatcheries have a list of weekly weights for the broilers - but that's also probably for optimum perfect conditions AND I'm sure just an average - I bet plenty of people go a little over and a little under on the weights according to those charts. Also, remember, it's okay to be different

It could the way you are feeding, or maybe not enough competition as others have suggested, or even the colder weather this time of year kind of slowing things down...there's a ton of if's and maybe's for us since we aren't there every day with you

And don't worry, big or small...they'll still taste like chicken!
