Does anyone know of breeds that are maybe a smaller standard fowl that lays eggs well?
Or does anyone know of a bantam breed that lays eggs well?

thanks

A leghorn isn't actually that big - a hen is only about 4.5 pounds. And they lay VERY well. That's why they are so popular with the commercial farms.

I've heard that the Hamburgs are good layers, and they are on the smaller side (4 lbs). Of course, so are their eggs. Some varieties of Polish are also smallish - about 4 pounds, and some of them lay very well.

I don't know much about bantams - but many people keep bantam RIR or white leghorns. Perhaps they lay well?
