One of my amberlink girls started laying this week. I’ve gotten an egg a day from her, but they’re small so far. I can’t put her on layer feed yet, because I have a mixed flock. However, she has oyster shell at her disposable. She’s healthy and happy. Will her egg size increase as she matures? I do give healthy treats, mealworms and scratch. Any suggestions or thoughts on small egg size? Thanks!

Don’t worry about it! Young layers almost always start small. As she gets older her eggs will get bigger.

One forum member weighed his eggs every day and kept a daily flock average. He tracked how much bigger they got over time. His were Rhode Island Reds but that shows clearly how they get larger as they age. If you have an accurate scale you might try weighing each of her eggs and recording those weights. It will probably make you feel better. They do get bigger as they lay.

Thank you for responding. That’s what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure this was normal.

Thank you, that’s a good idea with weighing them!
