Small flock chicken mamma

There’s no set time of day for laying eggs, but it takes 25ish hours to reset and do it again.
So for example today at 9 am
Tomorrow around 10
The next day around 11
Then you’ll hit a day where the sun is going down so the hen might skip that day and start again early the next morning.

*All of this is give or take

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

Unfortunately, they lay when they want. Some will run back to the nest box when they feel the urg, others will just drop them where they are, and others will make a "secret nest" and drop them there. And then you have the egg thief's... They'll collect eggs and take them to their secret nest.

Hi, although I’ve read backyard chickens often I’ve never joined. My flock is outgrowing my chicken coop and the yard and I need to keep them busy. I have 10 chickens various breeds and they’re mostly free range but when they’re in their yard they get kind of bored so I’m looking for ideas for things to keep them busy.
I also have chickens that like to lay their eggs in the woods in under bushes. I keep them in until about 1 o’clock in the afternoon and then let them out to free range. Does anybody know when a chicken usually lays it’s eggs and if that’s a long enough time to get them used to the nests.
You may have to keep your chickens inside the coop/yard area for a week (maybe 2) to break their habit of laying "who-knows-where". Add some fake eggs to the nest boxes and that will encourage them to go lay there... as hopefully they won't have choice to go anywhere else. Usually after several days of a change in routine, chickens just seem to forget what they used to do, and that's what you're trying to accomplish. After everyone starts successfully laying in the nest boxes again, you can let them back out to free range again and hopefully that new habit will encourage them to return to the coop throughout the day to lay their eggs.

During the time they're locked in the yard, you can try some of the many boredom buster ideas found in this great article.
