Small For Breed Eggs?

I have Leghorns well into their second year of laying and they are jumbo egg laying machines. I added Australorpes and Barred Rock this year to get more dual purpose birds. They have been laying for well over a month and I am getting only small eggs. I was under the impression that both should be large egg producers? I realize that it takes a bit for them to get a "hang of laying" but I very rarely if ever get large from them. The birds are healthy, active and have access to plenty of food and water.

Give it time - they are just beginning that first laying cycle.

The eggs get bigger slowly, can take months, patience.
