Small problem...

I have worked hard for about a week to prepare a small makeshift coop inside of a larger coop and run that is unsafe. I have. A wire dog crate that I made sides for and a small hardware cloth run coming off of it. Well, I put the final touches on it thus afternoon and planned on moving my broody tonight. So before it got dark I put food and water in it. Tonight I went out to move her and ants were crawling all over the crate carrying the food. What should I do to her rid of them? The broodies eggs are on day 16. Here is my plan:
1. Locate mound
2: kill ants in Mound.
3. Spray coop with Permithrin
4: spray perimeter with ant spray
