Smart Meters Yes? No?

We have the option of an electrical plan that costs less at non-peak hours than at peak hours. Peak hours change seasonally. They guarantee a savings or they will switch you back to the fixed rate. If I am careful about when I use appliances that pull a lot of electricity, we save a lot; if I am not careful, we save a little. But, even when I don't pay attention, the bills are lower.

I would love solar power but they are so cost prohibitive for a family like us, making less than $23,000 a year. And Ameren wants a part of the solar power that we don't use. I hate those monopoly games they play.

Yes once you buy something its yours but your saying when we buy something the company can track our use on that product. The only time they can track use of something is if you sign a TOS.I only sign a TOS for my MMORPGs not for other products I buy/pay for.
Does nabisco or kraft track what you do with all their products when you use it/buy it.
Does the fridge company you buy a fridge from track what you put in your fridge, when you eat something or how offten you let it spoil ect ect...
I am paying for the energy does not matter how I use it...yes I use a night light only so I don't run into stuff at night

I didn't say "how you use it".
It's a 'pay-per-use' service. They want to know how much you use, and when you use it. Broadband companies do this. Internet subscription services do this. Gyms do this. I swipe a card at work to get into my building, so they monitor my activity. Anything you buy a transport ticket for -buses, airplanes. The new passports have a tracking device. It's part of life today. Get off the grid, and you won't be tracked.

I realy don't care if they track how much i use durring what time of the day or if they know I have the AC on...Im not doing anything wrong and as long my rates stay the same I don't care.Plus mine is not using those here...yet.
I do know it will put the meter readers out of a job.
