I'd say the Welsummers are the smartest breed in my flock. They are always the first to check my pockets, to notice I've fed the cats and to try new things. They tend not to get stuck on the wrong side fences and doors. I only have 1 Cuckoo Marans but I'd have to say she is the dumbest in the bunch. It may be because she is the most timid and the bottom of the pecking order, but I can't get her to lay where she is supposed to. She is always getting stuck in the horses stall trying to lay in their feeders. There have been a couple of collisions because of that. All I can say is she is lucky that they are miniatures and all she lost was a few feathers.
