Smashing Eggs

There are 6 nesting boxes but they all have the same favorite one lol. Although the one that was smashed was with 2 other intact eggs at the opposite end of the favorite one.

Chickens usually pick the most private nest box..I have curtains on mine for privacy..Lol..They are still young so hopefully in time they work out the kinks...My one Pullet was breaking eggs too and now she isn't so clumsy..

What do you do with the egg shells? I feed these back to the girls, they will eat them before the oyster shell which I also keep out
I have a Delaware pullet that is doing soft shells, it should pass as she learns what to do,,, My EEs (some of them) are part Marans, they make a shell!
Is this shell brittle, crumbly, thin, etc.?

I have been putting the eggs into my live trap. Raccoons love them. The eggs are so smashed it’s hatd to tell if they are brittle or not.

You should be able to inspect the shell for thickness.
Thin shells break easy.
Just be really glad they are not eating them!!

When they first started Laying I would find peck holes in some of the eggs. Almost like they were curious where it just came from lol. I am glad they are not eating them too!
