Aww cute chickens! With that many in a fridge box I can see how it may have stunk. Your new setup should be much better.

I had 6 chicks in a rubbermaid tote in my bedroom....yes, my bedroom! When they got to be about 3 weeks old, they moved to the living room. I couldn't stand living in the "red light district" anymore. I need darkness for sleep. LOL Mine never smelled. I guess I cleaned the brooder too much then, every 3rd day or so, a full cleanout once a week.
