smelly brown poo...sorry, nasty title!

Sorry new quail owner after more advice.
Rik and Dick normally produce what I would think of as normal poo, with a white top, which dries up and doesn't really smell.
But one, or both of them also produces a wet brown loose stool , which I always stand in of course ! It smells nasty. They both seem fit, healthy, eating and drinking well and being fed on quail mix with a bit of chick crumb and some mealworm as treats. Is it normal for them to produce this ? Sorry for the unpleasant content!

Adding some apple cider vinegar to their drinking water helps the poo smell less bad. You only need about quarter of a tsp per pint of water.

Could be coccidiosis.... slimy green or brown poos....

The amount of protein has a drastic effect on the odor... Maybe said bird is getting a disproportionate number of mealworms/treats?

They love mealworms, so maybe I've been over treating ?
they also eat slugs because im invaded by them and they are ever increasing, as they eat quail poo ! yuk yuk
coccidosis sounds serious ? they seem fine in themselves
