Hi all
My brahma has been brooding her eggs now for 18 days and when i go into the coop its reaking i picked up my chicken and she is all bald and smelly underneath ,is that natural

Its normal for them to pluck themselves bald, but not to be smelly.

Has she pooped up the nest?

Do any of the eggs smell bad?

She could be sitting on a rotten egg.

Thanks ,
I went out this morning at first light too investigate the smell it was the eggs , it was the worst smell i ever smelt i got sick ,this was my first attempt at hatching with a broody hen what went wrong.when i use an incubator i have no probs with rotton eggs.

no sundown she sat tight throughout we had a few days and the temp outside got upto 25 degrees celsius which is hot for ireland is it possible thats what happened
