Smelly eggs...

is it the eggs are bad and chicks dead or do they normally smell funny from the hen sitting on them so much?
First of all the nest was abandoned so my friend brought me the eggs to put under my broody two days ago. I candled them first and saw ones at various different stages we believe 14 days and 11 days and maybe two are 17 days so I am afraid i dont know what to do?

Pick up each one and smell them to see if you can find which one/ones are bad.

I'm not a voice of experience...but it is my understanding that a hen will eject bad eggs from the nest on her own, but hey, I've been wrong before...

she is a new broody and I have never let her sit on eggs before..waiting for dh to come home to help me candle them..wish I had a stethoscope

egg number three of four was smelly and dh cracked it open runny yellow insides!
