Smoked Eggs?

I just got into TWO boxes of eggs from ebay sellers and one of them was faintly smoke-y, but the other was BAD! As in, I'm pregnant and it made me throw up. I am sensitive to smoke, so I know that's a factor, but...

Anyone know if being SMOKED (LOL) changes the fertility rates of these eggs? It made me curious, because I know it can affect human babies...

(I'm not happy about the smoke issue, but I didn't ask, so shame on me, right?

Well, if no one knows, I'm going to keep track of which of mine came from the ultra-stinky box and see if there's a difference in hatch rate and any 'funky' chicks

Smoke like woodstove?
Doesn't bother them a bit. I heat with wood and I've hatched when the stove has been going all night and day.

No, smoke like cigarettes-- VERY strong smelling tobacco smell from the boxes...

I have recieved eggs that the packaging smelled like cigarette smoke and they hatched just fine. But they weren't super smokey - it's just a smell I can detect a mile away.

You might watch for signs of tobacco withdrawl after hatch.

I've got 60 eggs set right now, so hopefully I'll have a good comparison... would be interesting to see if there are behavior differences, etc. Of course, the eggs came from different flocks, so it's not going to be completely accurate.

I am no expert by any means , but we have hatched a ton of baby chicks, I do smoke , not in the house , but in the winter I smoke out the back door of the laundry room which is where we keep the eggs that we are saving , along with the bators and all . We have had no trouble out of the eggs hatching at all. I know of one time , we had an ice storm going on , and I did not want to open the door as we had new hatched babies in the laudry room ,and the bator needed water , I was smoking and opened the door to the bator to add the water and to candle them that night , every egg hatched . I do not think that you have much to worry about.. Sorry it made you sick.. I know when I was preg. and stoped smoking , the smell made me sick as well. Shame on me for starting back .. I have no will power , good luck and keep us posted..
