1. What age were you when you started smoking?
16

2. What age are you now?
27

3. How has smoking effected you medically?
When I was smoking I was always sick with something, and I had constant headaches

4. How many cigarettes/packs do you smoke a day, on average?
1-2 packs a day

5. Have you ever tried to quit?
Quite a few times. I spent a week researching on quitting techniques before giving it a go the last time. I quit cold turkey.

6. What brand do you smoke?
Anything that was cheap and at the end I smoked tobacco that I had to roll myself.

7. How has it effected people around you?
Most of the people I knew either smoked or were completely okay with smoking so it never bothered anyone. As a non-smoker now, smokers still don't bother me. To each their own.

8. Do you regret smoking? If not, BE HONEST.
Yes and No. On the one hand smoking gave me something to do, made me feel good and was a comfort during stress. Now that I've quit I still remember all that fondly but I can breathe better and I save a ton of money every week by not buying cigarettes constantly. I also find it refreshing that I don't have to go out of my way to smoke in public anymore.. it's freeing.

32

3. How has smoking effected you medically?
shortness of breath

4. How many cigarettes/packs do you smoke a day, on average?
Two packs a day

5. Have you ever tried to quit?
quit for a year when pregnant

6. What brand do you smoke?
Kool menthol 100's

7. How has it effected people around you?
Do not feel it has effected my family since they have very limited exposure to my smoke. I don't smoke inside my house, I go outside to smoke even in rain, sleet and snow. I do however smoke in my truck with the window cracked.

8. Do you regret smoking? If not, BE HONEST.
No regrets. I love the smell and taste of smoke. I love the relaxation it gives me. I'm sure if I get a major health problem because of smoking I will regret it...but until then I have no regrets.

FYI I feel smoking bans are a violation of a business owners' rights. If I own a bar and want to smoke in it that's my right. Non smokers who don't like it should leave and buy their own non smoking bar!!!

From Wikipedia-
The etymology derives from the American phrase to "talk turkey" meaning to speak bluntly with little preparation. [4] Some, however, believe the derivation is from the comparison of a cold turkey carcass and the state of a withdrawing addict — most notably, the cold sweats and goose bumps;[citation needed] It is often preceded by the verb "to go," as in "going cold turkey." Yet another suggestion of origin is that cold turkey is a dish that needs little or no preparation. "To quit like cold turkey" would be to quit in the same way a cold turkey is served: instantly, just as you are, without preparation.

Truthfully, I think smoking and overeating are very similar. It is a comforting habit. It gives your hands and mouth something to do. It is imminently social. Many people are taught how to do it by their parents and family. Both cause a lifetime of health issues. Smoking has been demonified by the American press and the health insurance companies. Now fatness (caused by overeating) is being attacked. Both things are almost impossibly hard to quit. Addiction and dependence are the same no matter what your choice of poison.

I am 50/50 on that one and I am a smoker. I think non-smokers have as many rights to clean air as smokers do. What I REALLY disagree with is here in CA they are banning public smoking all around. I mean WTH???? We are outside - move away. It is going to far if you ask me.
