Smokey color gene in chickens?

Khaki is another color I know nothing about! Can it be produced by a lavender/paint cross? I have always called her a paint because she does have a few tiny black feathers mixed in. And because her mom is paint… unless somehow I was wrong about her mother, but I don’t think so.
Khaki is homozygous Dun. It's on the I locus with dominant white. I think you are right about her color but it is similar to my khaki female but lighter. It's so weird. If she is hetero dominant white then she is a paint. No you won't get khaki by a lavender and paint cross.

Wow, your khaki girl is beautiful! I guess my girl probably is just autosomal red with paint. I have just been surprised to see a random pattern of bright white feathers in her, alongside the tan colored feathers. When she was younger, the tan was a little more uniform. I am assuming that the autosomal red came from her lavender father, because my paint silkie is bright white.

That is so cool because I thought the autosomal red would be brighter. That tan color is very diluted.

Autosomal red has a strange affect on Dominant white sometimes. Often times it gives some red in the hackles, or breast, occasionally giving a golden hue, or alittle bit of color plus the smudgy gray color, or just smudgy with black specks, & no red showing.
