I must say, while I do this and it is the best way to get my birds tame and eating from my hand, they still put up their dukes when I try to grab them lol

It takes them some time to discover how amazing and delicious they are. For my birds, sometimes it varies. I have one adult racer that I received at age 2, and she barely takes interest to them. Every once in a while I wouldn't be surprised if a pigeon here and there does not like them, but I think that is very much the exception not the rule.

Place a small pile of them near where the pigeon roosts or perches and it will discover them. Consider breaking them into smaller pieces.

That works OK for squirrels or chipmunks for pigeons they peanuts must be free of shells.
