thanks for your input its helpfulPersonally, if I feed peanuts, I always feed roasted. Peanuts are a member of the legume family and I believe they contain trypsin inhibitors (soybeans are a big no no to feed raw because of this). While it probably doesn't hurt if you only feed them as "treats", I always felt safer to use the roasted one. Of course you will hear some people saying that you can't feed roasted ones for whatever reason, and they had umpteen problems when they did... I personally have not had problems with roasted ones. I'm just stating what has worked in my personal experience. Nowadays I tend to stick to safflower as a treat. I've never seen a pigeon which didn't love safflower. Just remember not to over use any of the high fat treats, because you will quickly end up with a fat unhealthy bird.
Sunflower hearts and shelled unsalted peanuts as stated above hand fed as a treat will help make your homers especially tame (they are know to be aloof.)
This is the kind of reaction I have also in my loft. Regardless of the time of day and if they were just fed or not makes no difference when it comes to peanuts. Your pigeon has not yet developed a craving for them in time I think he will.raw shelled unsalted peanuts
I bought my pigeon raw shelled unsalted peanuts and he hasn't touched them how long should I keep them in his bowl before removing them?
I think that is the answer you are looking for.breaking them into smaller pieces.
