check craigslist.com. here in oregon i always see someone needing to get rid of a rooster for free. and from time to time i see older hens that are not laying for $5. i had a burmese when i was younger, awesome snakes to say the least. i went on to collecting ball pythons and red tail boas. again very beautiful snakes. im infatuated with the larger pythons, i have the OK from the misses to get a reticulated python in a few years. once the bearded dragon passes his inclosure will be home to a blood python. i have a very good friend that collects everything under the sun that is toxic.

You may want to search online for your food. I used to order sterile rats and bunnies for my boa. They are sterile and no worries about the sanke catching something. Just thaw out what you need.

Good luck and welcome to BYC.

buying frozen prey and feeding to constrictors is what is called "power feeding" the freezing and thawing breaks down certain proteins and enzymes in the prey animal. so when the predator eats said thawed food it easier to digest and you can feed more often. i would power feed once a week and offer stunned prey items once or twice a week.

Power feeding burmese is not good as they grow so fast.

If you was near I would sell you chicken for food.
Not much differents, what eats them after killing them, people or snakes.

Check craiglist

i agree with the fact that power feeding burmese and other fast growing animals is not neccessarily a good diet regimen. that being said, it is something that can be done if you are trying to achieve something. i did it as a strict part of a regular diet of different prey items. i dont think many people have the fortitude to regularly offer live prey or stunned live prey items. the other part of feeding large constrictors is you need a separate feeding inclosure that is substantially smaller than their living habitat. it minimizes the risk of a bite. i really dont want to get into a diet discussion here about reptiles as i have a pretty good understanding of what is to be done and not done. :rolleyes:if you have any other info that i need to be aware of pm me.

Hi and Welcome,
In Ga there are many rabbit breeders If you can get to a rabbit show and talk with a few breeders they will generally be more than willing to sell you culls for short money.
A lot of them will also freeze a litter that didnt survive.
If you can ask around I am sure some one knows of a breeder, or accidental pet store goof up litter that can help you.

Craigs list is not a good place to get free animals to feed a snake People on that list are die hard believers that all animals are pets and shouldn't be used for the purpose of keeping something else alive and well fed

They will ban you or warn everyone out there that so and so gets animals to feed out as snake foood.

What I do not understand is some of the animosity against people who care for snakes?
This forum from what I have read is supposed to be to "help" each other no matter what species of animals we care for.
I think ( I may be wrong though), that preditor and pest threads are just that and rules say, judge not.
There is also a section for " any other pet, fowl, etc.
Snakes being predators is natural and I feel the post is in a proper place, or could be moved to the " the all other pet" threads.
of course like any thread on any part of this forum " YOU choose what you read. dont like snakes skip reading the post.
