I'm so glad your DH is gonna be OK! Best wishes from here in Atlanta. I would never had thought such a small snake would be so bad! My thoughts are with the both of you during the recovery.
I wrote earlier how my DH pulled a tough guy stunt with his heart attack - he's done alot of similar stunts, though none so serious. PS - the first week at home from the ICU is when we got our first chicks "to keep him company".

Yes I had a chick hatch out the night he got bit and I had not taken it out till today............it was one of them things I HAD to do. Or sit there and watch yet another episode of Andy and Opie.

When he gets home and has had time. I will make him sit down here and read all this. He does appreciate total strangers..........well some of ya we have met but he is amazed. As i totally am. BYC'ers are totally awesome.

I am sooo glad he is ok. I was worried about him losing body parts! I hate snakes! I was reading this to my Hubby, telling him to never do it and giving him "the look".

Great to hear he got it took care of in time and will be okay!
We men owe our wives a lot at times like this! You gals are great!
I thought I knew what that snake was as soon as I saw the pic.
My wife is terrified of snakes! I caught a 5 foot chicken snake at home last year and brought him to show her and found out how seriously afraid of them she was! I don't like to kill animals unless I have to so against her wishes to kill him I put him down a sewer drain leading to the lake. Told him it was his only chance, kind of a compromise I thought. At that time we didn't have chickens so no big deal, but just last evening as I went to the coop to lock it down for the night there was a 5 foot chicken snake going in the door just as I turned the corner. Don't know if it was the same one or not but it won't be the same one again. We've got chicks going out to the coop as soon as the night temps get steady so I had to deal with him this time.
That's a very sobering post Nifty-Chicken gave us. After looking at that I don't think I'll ever tarry if this should happen to me.
Praying you guys get a complete recovery from this along with lessons learned ol boy. Don't play with "dead" snakes but if you do LISTEN to your wife.
