Snake!!Look what I found. I was wondering what was gettitting my eggs

I hate snakes, they give me the creeps. So, how do we keep them out of the coop and eating the eggs? I know I have garters around my house even black snakes.

is your coop off the ground? ours is about 2.5 feet off the ground so i hope snakes can not get in.

In order to keep snakes out you have to cover every surface with hardware cloth. Even then they can still find the tiniest crevice and squeeze through.

Some have used mothballs to allegedly repel them, but moth balls are toxic- I'd rather have snakes than moth ball residue all over.

Hardware cloth should keep out any snake big enough to eat an egg. Just make sure it is well attached to the framing. I understand many people can't stand the sight of any snake but I find them interesting and would not kill one that was no threat to my family and pets.

i think us snake haters come to see these posts cause we can't help it! I hate snakes....plain and simple! Don't care if they are good snakes, i just hate them. Don't like spiders either~

But my cat is a darn snake killer, so proud of him!! but he keeps leaving them where I find them. Today i went out grabbed a bowl, had my son next to me, got some feed and noticed my dog looking at me crazy. i was like WHAT LINK? Dumb dog, cough cough...as there was a snake at my feet. like inches away from it. Buster broke it's back, twice( this is the second one in 3 days) and my husband chopped it's head off.Black racer snake. harmless. It was suffering! Did i care , NO but my son was crying buster hurt the snake.

IDK ever since the cotton mouth in my yard, i just haven't been the same~
