99% of the time the snake is just as afraid of you if not more afraid....and 99% of snake bites on humans is because the snake went into fight or flight mode...
I think that when we do see a snake (i know some people are deathly afraid of them) but the first thing we need to do is stop and TAKE A DEEP BREATH...most of the time find a branch and help the snake find thier way out of your coop or out if your way....of course this is for non venomous snakes....
I have 3 snakes as pets and I go to the elementary schools with my snakes to help children learn about how snakes are helpful to our enviroment...My daughter has been handling my 5' long Ball python since she was 2 (always with an adult of course)
would you kill your chicken if s/he accidently bit you?
I wouldnt kill my chicken because their bite wont kill you. I knew there were some poisonous snakes here and I wasnt sure. It is done and I cant bring it back from the dead.
I know plenty of people who have put roosters in the pot because they didn't play nice, so yes I would put a chicken in the pot that didn't play nice. I have about 4 with cook pot written all over them for sure.

All of the above is your opinion. I hope you understand that and respect that other people have their own opinion about a predator like a snake being in their yard.
Wow. You must be a real idoit to kill whatever slithers into your yard. Do you have ANY respect for other beings?....ya, I thought not. It didn't do anything to you, just minding its own business and you just KILL it???
With it that big I would of killed it also. Once they get big enough to eat eggs they have to leave my place. I don't blame you for killing it. It was in your yard where it could of bit you or your brother.

I'm new here...I'm a former vegan, now a vegetarian, a HUGE animal rights activist and conservationist. I don't believe in killing harmless animals out of fear, (I don't advocate killing ANY animal unless other routes have been attempted or exhausted BUT...
Is it really necessary to call this person names? He or she stated that they weren't educated on what venomous snakes looked like and that it can't be undone. Furthermore, taking that attitude does not make people want to learn different ways, consider their faults or expand their knowledge.
I hope you can learn to be as gentle with people (especially young ones) as you wish they would be with animals!
