I think aalot of her being irrisitable is her beautiful markings and color.
In my area the color pattern on Piper is very rare to find.
that is definately one snake I could fall in love with, chances are that one would never know what the inside of a habitat looked like.

I can see a little cutie like her becoming a permanent fixture around my neck or wrist. I could kiss and cuddle her all day!!!

I used to breed snakes and had well over 300 when all of the babies would hatch. All kinds, corns, kings, milks, pines, gophers, pythons. Now I have a pair of growing root beer corns, a male normal corn that we bought at a swap for $5.00. It was so fresh out of the egg he still had vermiculite on him. Now he is a hog. And we have a new baby western hognose. The last pic is my senior picture with my python, Diablo. I don't have it anymore. (the snake or that body) I kinda gave up the snake when I gave up the boyfriend he was attached to. The biggest snake i ever had was a 14' normal burmese python. The neighbors loved it when i took it out to sunbathe! LOL!!!

I hate to stereotype, but I've heard all white-sided rats snakes are just as cranky. Is your Piper friendly? Our boy, Whitewall, is as mean as a.... well...a snake. LOL

He bit dh the first time he held him, so now he gets picked up with a hook. Of course he's over 5 ft long, so he really doesn't get a chance to redeem himself.

Any color snake can have a bad attitude when not handled constantly.
keep in mind snakes are wild animals and learn to tolerate our handling of them.
Some seem to enjoy it more than others.

Also keep in mind that snakes are the only animals that can be set free and will revert imediately back to its wild nature.
One reason there is so many issues with larger constrictors in states where they are not native eating peoples pets.

OEGBMan ?
When breeding corn snakes is it like with Boas you have to keep the humidity and lighting up high to stimulate the females into cycling?

Thanks everyone! I definitely dont want to mess with Hots (venomous snakes) but eventually, it might be something I get into!

luvmy, you crack me up! Im glad you love Piper!

LOL, HCE. Piper is a bit skittish, but no more than some of my other corns. I've heard Rats can be a little more nippy, but I havent noticed it with her. I think its more of the species, not the color.

Gypsy, although snakes may be able to survive in the wild.... Its not advised. Most wont survive, and I dont believe they revert immediately. Snakes use to care and being fed on a weekly basis will most likely not survive in the wild. The large constrictors are proof that it does work, but I definitely would not advise it or advertise it as an option. Just my opinion. I started the thread, I guess I get to voice mine.

As for the corn breeding, Im not positive on the humidity but the increase in light does help them know something is going on. I didnt do too much, just put them together a few times and they bred every time.
