Snakes <3 <3 <3 :)

Last year we had to put down a cottonmouth :-( tried relocation with but animal control kills poisonous snakes for safety unless endangered.

That is.... incredibly stupid I'd never call animal control for anything jeeze. Yeah they're NOT endangered soooo we'll just kill all the ones we find that won't be a problem right?

Corn snakes make the "perfect" first snake for a pet. They don't get huge like some other snakes do. And they come in almost evey conceivable color, even lavender!

I bought "Eve" as a baby, she was not much bigger than a night crawler. My mother says "anyone that keeps a snake as a pet is crazy". My boyfriend's mother says she cannot understand why a woman in her 50's wants a snake for a pet. My boyfriend understands, he had snakes as pets in the past. My landlord will not come in my house, Eve is in the living room in an aquarium, he is deathly afraid of snakes.

I am in the process of upgrading her living quarters from a 10 gallon to a 55 gallon aquarium. I would really like to build her a living space in the corner of my living room make with plexi-glass and small mesh wire so I could have plants in with her. But, that is a project for a house that I own.

Eve loves to crawl though my hair and wrap around my neck when I hold her. She likes to be held by both myself and my boyfriend, but she gets uneasy if the dogs get on the couch or bed with us.

Its not stupid to ask. And there's always another to move in (hopefully). As far as killing "all the ones we find", calm down. We're not hunting them, "jeeze". Should one be determined enough to continuously come in contact with us, ya - I'll kill a venomous one if no one will take it. I "see" plenty on the other side of the property that we don't even bother with; they're beneficial in so many ways, just not enough to have in a play area, home or near people n pets in general.

They really are great, docile snakes. Had a pair I'd bring to classes and the kids (most of them lol) really loved holding the pretty Corns. Love the colors they come in. I bred ball pythons for a few years and they were great beginner snakes too.

My corn snakes and my Brooksi king seem to love to crawl up the sleeve of my t-shirt to get warm. Cold snake bellies on your bare back is quite a treat!

So does anyone else on here keep multiple species of snakes or breed? What about any lizard species? I currently have 60ish snakes and 30ish geckos, with our second year of breeding well under way, with eggs from a couple of different species incubating.

I have three snakes at the moment that I care for, two corns, one classic and one amel, and a brooksi king snake.

I don't mean you I mean animal control, methods like that and rattlesnake roundup are the reason venomous snakes are dwindling in the wild as is. There's only so many to take anothers spot until they hit that endangered list.

First ball python of the season hatched out overnight, quite a few still to go, but this clutch was 7 strong.....all the others look good, just waiting for them to leave the eggs. That first little baby is a pistol though! Already trying to bite the hand that will, for a while, feed.
