Snakes, anyone?

My 10 yr old has a ball python. He is a sweetie. Very tame. He is not eating well though, but I have heard they go a whole without eating.

Before him we had a savanna monitor (traded for the python because she was a bit nipping for my son)

Before her we had a corn snake. He was great, but when we were in Russia to adopt our girls the friend that was house sitting let her daughter play with him and left the lid not latched. We saw him two weeks after we got back, but did not catch him. Never saw him after that. It was a raised house with I am sure a lot of food living under it! We have since moved.

Someday I will have snakes..someday..until then I'm going to enjoy looking at all of yours.

ladycrotalus, I LOVE the eyelash viper (unless there's another snake that looks exactly like them and I've identified it wrong

). What is the very last snake you have listed as yours, and the first of your boyfriends? The blueish green and the snake above it basically. I've seen them before but I can't think of a name.

I could be misindentifying, but it looks like your boyfriend likes to live dangerously!

and not thinking God put snakes here to be pets

Yikes! My daughter has wanted one for a long time, since she saw a "pink" one at the pet store and she was about 3. Maybe someday when she will be able to take care of it, I will get her one, but for now we take trips to a pet store that specializes in snakes.

No animal was "put here" to be a pet. We domesticated certain species - including chickens - for various utilities, and the concept of even dogs and cats as 'pets' rather than working animals is relatively new. Several reptile species are arguably well on their way to becoming a "domesticated" species; leopard geckos, bearded dragons, and ball pythons have been selectively bred for many years now for temperament and physical appearence just like any other 'pet' species. Anyways, this topic is for people who own snakes, enjoy snakes, and want to share photos of them. I respect if it isn't for you, but please be respectful in turn.

Back on topic, here are some (though definitely not all) of my husband's snakes:

The first picture, very unusual and PRETTY color! What is he?

She's a rosy boa, I forget what sub-species/regionality but they have very attractive color compared to many other local varieties of the species.

for starters I never said I didnt respect you all and what you decide to turn into pets and wouldnt have looked at the thread if it didnt appeal to me let alone the fact that I posted on it

I can care less if you cant walk through your house without steping on or over a snake poisonus or not.......I just dont want one in my house or yard for that matter

when I was young we used to catch green snakes and sell them to the mail man I dont care what he did with them just give me my money

one day I found a black snake in grandpas barn and took it out in the woods and let it go because in my mind he was to close to the house when I told grandpa he made go find another one and put back in the barn because they eat rats

so I am not disrespecting what anyone to keep for pets just saying I dont and will not have one
