Snakes eating.. fair warning!

I love there little homes. How cute is that. Well, all my life I thought snakes only ate live warm food. See, ya learn something everyday

Interesting and educational photos.

I am so not a snake lover though, unless it's dead. Maybe one day maybe I'll understand what people find attractive about snakes...

PC.. the first 2 pics are of my Corn snake, Kenna. The next 4 pics are Jaffe and Flinch, Black Rat snakes heterozygous for White albino (that translates to white scales, rather than pinkish transparent looking ones). The last snake pictured is my little Leucistic TX Rat snake ..Puck! ..and she is a handful. It's her nature to be "temperamental" ..and she lives up to it! LOL She's always tracking me ..and she will lunge at my face, if I'm not paying close attention to her movements and signals (her tail "talks")

And nope.. none of my gang will eat a chick. I haven't tried, but it's not a good thing to do ...if they decide they like it.. I set myself up for desperately trying to find chicks every week. Not good.

Btw, I gave my Silkie and Sizzle roos away today ..and I thought of you and that crazy video of your "shoe killer"

Oberon and his brother went to live down the street with some neighbors that think their cuteness outweighs their attitudes.

Did those snakes come from a breeder or were they live catches? They truly are
beautiful animals.

I'm one of those people who have a fear of snakes but every time I catch a Garder in
the yard I try to play with it to overcome my fear. It's a strange feeling but very
exciting.

I can't help but look at your pictures and say "Hmmm, with all the animals we have
why not get a snake too?". Plus my wife loves snakes, never had one, but loves them.

I'm also curious, when you say Puck tracks you and lunges what are her/his intentions?

Interesting stuff here.

Poulet.. there's someone for everyone ...right?

PC.. Thank you, once again! All of my snakes were acquired from breeders (the ones in the pics, anyway) ..and will eventually be bred selectively by me (as demand allows ..in other words, I find homes before I breed animals). I have two Ball Pythons that are rescues ..one burned with cigarettes by its human previously ...and another being kept by rat (the rodent) hoarders, but being starved, ironically.

And Puck! is just aggressive ..most TX Rat snakes are... so when she is tracking me, she is likely thinking about biting me to get me to put her down or get away from her. She is just really good at tracking.. or watching ...her immediate surroundings. My ultimate goal with her is, find a suitable mate and breed for "better" temperament.. and of course, health, etc. She will be an awesome specimen when she's adult size ..and I would like to see this particular species of Leucistics more appreciated in the hobby.

If you decide to get a snake, I highly recommend a Corn snake that is about a year old and at least 150 grams of weight ...it will be mellow, eating well and a decent size that you won't feel intimidated or worry that you will break it. I had a big Corn girl in my 4th grade classroom ..and my kids were crazy about her... even the one scary kid

holliewould.. f/t or frozen thawed is just that ..kept frozen until needed ..then thawed to a reasonable temp that will entice the snake to eat. You wouldn't eat "just defrosted" tv dinner or steak, etc. ...would you?

Your're right, it takes all kinds! I just can't look at a snake and think "what a beautiful creature..." never have been a reptile lover at all. I tried to have an Iguana as a teen, but never could get attached to it...

But like I said, very educational photos...

I have to agree. I'm not a snake lover, by any means, unless it's meat going into a pot of wild game jambalya. I think they're pretty creatures, but the thought of one coiling up around my arm grosses me out. Huge ick factor. I'm not judging, though. I like people who keep pets that are not of a normal variety. I tend to find them (the people) more open minded and forward thinking. Sort of like folks who keep chickens. I like it.

I lol'd. Don't take much for me, though.

I'm such a BLEEDING heart kinda person - but I appreciate nature - those are great pictures.

About a year ago I happened upon a snake who had knocked two baby birds out of a nest in a tree - it was too late to save the one baby - but I put the second one back in the nest -
Got photos as well

The snake was in our driveway - once he/she was done eating - I caught it in a box and moved it to an overgrown hillside a little way from our house.

I didn't mean to take over the thread - just wanted to share some pics I took!
