With all the rain we’ve been getting lately, have killed 2 water moccasins in our coop. One killed a hen in nesting box.

Worried about SO sticking her hand in nesting box to get eggs.
These were both large snakes and had to come up the side of coop to get in, as we have smaller wire lower to the ground to prevent reach through from coons or opossum.
The area behind in picture is not where snakes were at, it was a different , newly renovated coop.

Is that just one snake in the picture? That is about the size of one of the two black rat snakes DH and I killed shortly after I moved here in 2010. They were apparently living under the hen house, gorging themselves on eggs. Over 6' long and about as big around as my leg. I came very close to turning around and heading back to NM that day!

Yea, that’s the biggest one. The other was about 4 feet long.

That's a water moccasin?
Holy cr@p, I didn't know that got that big. I've dealt with a few very large black snakes this year but I'll quit complaining about them. You got it worse for sure.
And yes I almost got my hand in a nest box before I saw the last one.
