My dh found one of those guys in the nest box a couple of days ago trying to swallow a plastic egg. I wasn't immediately sure what it was so it got away. Next time it comes back it will be relocated far far away. I'm not great at snake id because they weren't around where I grew up. My 9-year-old son would like to keep each and every snake we find. We have a million rubber/plastic snakes around the house, and my dh thought the kids were messing with him at first. Then the snake moved. I've long said that one of these days I'll reach down to pick up one of the play snakes from the garage floor and it will be the real thing. The scream will be heard on the moon
One of the reasons I live in this state is because we do not have poisonous snakes (who knows what will happen with the temps rising every year, though). I like snakes.. well, little ones, anyway. I've only seen one here in three years. My husband is glad because he hates snakes!
I'm glad you didn't kill it. And I agree, snakes do serve a purpose. What a beauty, though! And how huge!
that is just the size of the one i beat out of my chicken coop.couldnt bring myself to kill it either.they are doing what they naturally do........ just frustrating isnt it.........
