Snakes!

It's still hanging out there. It is living on the tadpoles and toads and frogs.
Hopefully, but the tadpoles were quite far away (not in the same forest). Maybe frogs, though, but the frog I saw was also a bit far.

I've been seeing a lot of snakes lately and thought I'd start a thread for all of us to post our snake pictures

Look what came to visit the other day! ~5-foot-long Gopher snake.View attachment 3153557View attachment 3153558
Aww! I wish I’d gotten to take pics of the snakes around here! I only have one..

An Eastern Rat Snake!
But I have caught two snakes in a mouse cage once! (I think they are the mice! 😉 🐁)

Ohh that ain't good. Copperheads get the birdshot. Sorry if that offends anyone.
Not offended at all. After this photo was taken, it bit two of my chickens in the neck. :barnie They are healed now. I'd be okay with someone removing this snake one way or another at this point because it's obviously super aggressive.

The black snakes, garter snakes, ribbon snakes, racers, king snakes, etc I've never had problems with so they can stay and eat rats and bugs if they want.

A beautiful 6-foot black rat snake was in the henhouse last night, actually. He's been coming about once a week to check things out. He's a good model.

Glad your chickens ended up ok. We don't mind anything non venomous. They are free to do what they want. We collect eggs several times a day so eating the eggs is not a huge deal. I have seen several king snakes and I want them to stick around. Yes that picture is of a black rat snake. Big boy too. He had to climb up over 2 feet to get through that hole.
