Snapping turtles

No, guys!! No milk jugs with hooks! That one cost me a $175 vet bill! I had talked to a trapper who then came at night (unbeknownst to me as I was working!) and set the trap. At 7am, while I was asleep, he came to check the trap and found our female mute swan badly entangled with blood on her wing. He cut the line, woke me up, and I immediately rushed her to the vet. Thank goodness it was only superficial, but obviously no hook will ever be in my pond again!
After that, I found a little old man (he's got to be 90 if he's a day!) who's been trapping his whole life. He put a floating basket trap in the water baited with fish and within a week we had the big nasty thing that was scaring me to death while my cygnets were swimming around in the pond.

I only have ducks. The only time there are geese is when they stop but for a rest when migrating. There are two small herring and one blue herring that use the pond a lot.
