Sam i only have the 2 year old breeder pair, but still wanting at least one more pair from a different breeder, hope this fall or early next spring someone will have some more to offer up...
JJMR794..easy..lol,, i have them separated in different pens side by side, but will be pairing them up again soon, the female has not laid an egg yet..
hoping she does lay some this year, if or when she does i plan to hatch some bantam chicks along with them and hope they help teach the Lil mearns how to eat, i will also hand feed them if thats what must be done.
Ive heard the same thing with Edwards pheasants that they need help to learn to eat and that wasn't the case with the Edwards chicks we hatched out and are outside in a run already, they did just fine on there own.
The mearns quail are really a fascinating Lil quail, the males call is something to hear and sounds similar to a whistling/vibrating bottle rocket going up in the air..
The female loves her sand/DE box, she spends lots of time in there dusting and getting all frisky like...
