Sneeze into your SLEEVE??!! Are you KIDDING me?!

I have been reading this whole thing, and once again thought of all of you BYC'ers, when I was at the grocery store, with no tissue, having a sneezing fit. I sneezed in my left hand, kept in my pocket and used my right hand to pay and accept the receipt.

Thanks for making me neurotic. I have allergies, not a cold!!!

I got tickled last night when the cashier at Michael's sneezed into his elbow while he was putting our things in the bag. I giggled ... guess he'll always wonder if I was being rude to him because he sneezed.

My dd's school requires us to have doctor's excuse if she is going to be sick for more than one day. A cold has to run its course and it needed at least two days for flu. If you missed more than three days, she has to get a doctor's report note and RX write up to excuse her from school. Gee!

At hubby's workplace, they just don't care if you are sick....come to work anyway. I just don't see any reason or rhyme to it.

I have very healthy kids and yet I have them use hand sanitizer when we are out to eat at a buffet (NOT very often), if they touch a shopping cart, play on playground equipment, etc.... this is a replacement for hand washing. I have a pump in both cars for when we are out. I also start wearing gloves EVERYWHERE as soon as the temp drops ( I have a tendency to catch everything....)......

IMHO, if a school REQUIRES a doctor visit for an illness that is mild then they should PAY for that visit. Recently my DD was ill with a stomach bug that lasted 5 days; I was NOT going to drag her into the clinic for a simple case of throwing up (no dehydration issues, just occasional vomiting without a fever). I called the school and the clinic and just kept them updated. The school was very understanding and of course did not want my DD there passing her bug to others, the clinic was helpful with OTC meds for DD.
I am also not going to drag my kids in to the doctor if they have the flu unless it is severe enough for an IV! Why make them expend extra energy running to a doctor when they need to be resting at home?

Same thing goes for my workplace; they require me to come in sick I think I will puke on the managers desk.......

Schools nationwide are struggling, if your kid doesn't go they lose funding this is why they don't want unnecessary absence and I can understand that, but forcing a perfectly reasonable parent to take their kid to the doctor for a flu is unreasonable and often times working families cannot afford this. Not ever getting exposed to anything is really not in your best interest from an immunological aspect either. I have lupus, I'm a nurse, but ironically I don't get sick that often. Even more ironic is the fact that with my compromised immune system I NEVER get immunizations (I wont get into it). The moral of the story is also that being the boy in the bubble is not necessarily good either. The best things you can do for yourself are keep well hydrated, keep a good and regular sleep cycle, and eat good healthy foods.

I feel the same way, so I chose to stay out of this one! I did find it very interesting to see how everyone feels about the subject though!

Please, do not stop expressing your opinions!!
We may not agree with your view on something - but your opinion still counts as an opinion - !!
In fairness, all opinions should be viewed and counted.
This place will get tired fast without interesting opinions, like yours!!

When I worked at school, I remarked to someone one time that I had never sneezed into my armpit so much in my life when I went to work there because of serving and not being able to get away quick enough to get a kleenex. I washed my hands easily 50+ times a day when I worked there. We all did. Kept a running mild bleach wash in a bucket and dipped our hands in it literally every time we walked by. WHAT was bad was lining the trays up (4) and the kid taking the first tray sneezed on all the other trays behind his. Yeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

because as most of you know, kids do not sneeze "dry".
